More than 2,000 walkers will gather Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Harriman State Campus in Albany, to raise funds to fight heart disease and stroke.
The Start! Heart Walk is an annual hometown celebration of the American Heart Association and the power of walking to improve quality of life. It’s a personal experience that creates a community of participants in three focus areas: create hope, inspire change and celebrate success!
Activities take place near Building 8A at the Harriman State Campus, most easily reached from Exit 3 on I-90.
Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. The walk starts at 10 a.m.
Ric Mitchell of B95.5 is the emcee and Tom Amell, regional president of First Niagara, is the chairman.
Walkers will enjoy a 1 or 3-mile walking course; live music; health screenings; kids zone, including a Hunt for Hugo; breakfast; lunch; water, coffee and juice along the route and giveaways.
Join the survivors, identified by their red caps, as they salute their good health at 9:30 a.m.; remember loved ones on Memory Lane or write a tribute on the Heart Wall.
