Albany County Executive Mike Breslin announced today (Friday, August 8), a new plan to phase trans fat out of all Albany County restaurants.
The plan came after a resolution introduced in the Albany County Legislature by Majority Leader Frank Commisso passed unanimously.
According to Kerri Battle, spokeswoman for Breslin, the transition will come in two phases: the first, on January 1, 2009, where trans fat will be taken out of oils, shortening and margarine, the second where it is eliminated from baked goods.
