To help the public understand healthcare options and where the 21st District Congressional candidates stand on healthcare, the Capital District Alliance for Universal Healthcare, Inc.(CDAUH) will be hosting a Candidate Healthcare Forum on Tuesday, Aug. 12, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Emerson Community Hall, First Unitarian Universalist Society of Albany, 405 Washington Ave. (between Lake and Robin streets), Albany.
Parking is available in the University at Albany lot at the corner of Washington Avenue and Robin St.
The candidates who have agreed to participate are: Tracey Brooks, Darius Shahinfar, Phil Steck, Paul Tonko and Steven Vasquez; and invited, Jim Buhrmaster and Joseph Sullivan. Each participating candidate will focus exclusively on healthcare and make an opening statement setting forth their position on healthcare. Forum moderator, Dr. Richard Propp, chairman of CDAUH, will then pose specific questions to each candidate. The forum will then be open to the general audience to express their healthcare concerns and ask the candidates questions.
Social Responsibilities Council of the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Albany and the Hunger Action Network are co-sponsors of the forum.
CDAUH was organized in 2005 with representatives from social action committees from religious organizations, social agencies, advocacy organizations, and interested individuals who want to work for universal healthcare in the U.S.
