Local municipalities in Schenectady County will do battle on Thursday, June 26 to determine who has the best tasting water in Schenectady County.
The winner will go on to regional and if successful the State finals held at the New York State Fair in Syracuse.
Schenectady County is blessed with an abundant supply of water. While other communities across the nation are struggling with water quality and quantity, Schenectady County has a surplus capacity of 30 million gallons of water each day, said Susan E. Savage, Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature in press release. `This taste test is a chance for each of our towns and villages and the City of Schenectady to compete for the right to say that they have the best tasting water in Schenectady County.`
Local residents are encouraged to come out and judge the competition.
The taste test will be held at the Farmers Market in downtown Schenectady from 11 am to 1 pm on Thursday, June 26th. The downtown market is located on the corner of Jay Street and Liberty Street near City Hall.
Representatives from Niskayuna, Glenville, Rotterdam, Duanesburg, Princetown, the Village of Scotia and the City of Schenectady are expected to compete in the taste test.
