John Ford, 53, of Colonie was arrested on Thursday, May 8, by the Albany County Sheriff’s Department for possessing images of children engaged in sexual performances.
According to police, Ford used a computer at his workplace to view Internet sites that depicted child pornography, according to police.
This was discovered through an investigation that was conducted by the Sheriff’s sergeant, assigned to the Sheriff’s airport station, who was conducting a security check at Million Air at the Albany International Airport, the Sheriff’s department said.
The sergeant working on the case watched Ford, who works at the airport, at the computer, and noticed Ford quickly close windows on the computer screen showing images of young children, according to police.
While the children in the films are said to be from Web sites outside the United States and Russia, it does not appear that any of the children are local, police said.
The Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Unit was contacted and initiated an investigation which involved examination of the computer itself, police said.
Ford was charged with possession of a sexual performance by a child, a felony, and arraigned by Judge Susan Tatro. He was sent to Albany County Correctional Facility without bail, police said.
