Another day, another big win for the Niskayuna boys lacrosse team.
Two days after knocking off Massachusetts power Duxbury, the Silver Warriors posted an important 5-4 victory over Guilderland in Tuesday’s Suburban Council Blue Division showdown.
Niskayuna (5-0 league, 7-0 overall) scored the first two goals of the game before Guilderland (5-1, 6-1) responded with a four-goal second quarter. A pair of Silver Warrior goals in the second quarter tied the game at 4 before Niskayuna went ahead for good in the third quarter.
Guilderland goaltender Nick Koss kept the Dutchmen close by making 21 saves, but Niskayuna netminder James Manchester stopped several shots in the second half to seal the Silver Warriors’ victory.
Jared Franze scored two goals, and Steve D’Amario contributed a goal and an assist for Niskayuna, which moved into sole possession of first place in the Blue Division. Quinn Connell had a goal and two assists for Guilderland.
The Silver Warriors entered Tuesday’s game on the heels of a 12-7 home victory over Duxbury, the No. 15 ranked team in the United States. Niskayuna jumped out to a 6-0 first quarter lead and never looked back in handing Duxbury its first loss.
D’Amario and Franze each recorded hat tricks, while Seth Berggren tallied twice and added two assists for the Silver Warriors. Scott Austin’s three goals led Duxbury.
Niskayuna returns to action Thursday when it hosts Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake.`
