The Shenendehowa indoor track team racked up a Section II title Monday, but not on the boys’ side.
Michelle Quimby won two field events to help the Shen girls upend Saratoga Springs 150-119 at the Division I (large school) meet at University at Albany’s SEFCU Arena.
Quimby took first place in the pole vault after clearing 10 feet, and she won the high jump by clearing 5 feet, 3 inches. The junior also placed third in the triple jump with a distance of 33 feet, 11 inches to give Shen a total of 26 team points in her three events.
Shen’s only other victory came in the 1,600-meter relay. The team of Meredith Cully, Allie Maguire, Patty Massa and Gina Stalica finished first in a time of 4:18.83.
Saratoga owned the track as Madalayne Smith, Brianne Bellon and Hannah Davidson each won two individual races. Smith took first place in the 55 dash and the 55 hurdles, Bellon finished first in the 600 and 1,000, and Davidson won the 1,500 and 3,000. Bellon also teamed up with Amanda Borroughs, Katie Treichel and Sydney King to win the 3,200 relay.
Haley Franco added a victory in the shot put for Saratoga.
The boys Division I meet was also a shocker as Colonie edged Shen for the team title. Colonie finished with 131 points, five more than Shen.
Mike Danaher and Dan Harris each won individual races for Shen. Danaher took first place in the 1,600, while Harris won the 3,200. James Schwendtner added a victory in the shot put.`
