The Niskayuna Planning Board unanimously passed a zoning ordinance amendment Monday, Nov. 19. The amendment recommends the deletion of the term boarding house from the list of home occupation uses.
A public hearing was scheduled at the start of the meeting, but no one spoke.
While the recommendation is to have the term deleted, it will not ban boarding homes completely. Residents will still be able to file for a special variance permit from the town, according to board member Leslie Gold.
`It doesn’t prevent someone from renting a room,` she said.
The recommendation will now be passed along to the Niskayuna Town Board for action.
The board also discussed a preliminary plot plan for Windsor Estates but will need more information before any action is considered.
Board member Eric Kuntz cited `complex drainage issues,` as a topic of concern.
`Some of them are pretty complicated,` he said.
A minor subdivision plan on Aqueduct Road and apartments on Hillside Avenue was also discussed. The board tabled any action until they are presented with more details of the plans. “
