The Metroplex Board has approved $250,000 to continue its Upper Union Street Facade Program. Four projects including 10 different storefronts have committed to complete facade improvements this season.
The Upper Union Street Facade program provides matching 50/50 grants to commercial businesses and property owners to update the buildings inluding windows, doors, trims, siding and signage.
Currently Northeastern Fine Jewlery, Gershon’s Deli, Scotti’s Restaurant, Ferri Formals and the Union Street Aquarium have completed facade upgrades.
Michael Mastroianni, Chair of the Upper Union Street BID said, This additional funding from Metroplex is a vote of confidence in our program and in the success of Union Street.
Kem Plaza at 1707 Union Street; the AJ Floral Building at 1609 Union Street; Domani Salon at 1606 Union Street and the former Gidley’s Framing building at 1712 Union Street are scheduled to get facade upgrades this season. “
