Friday, March 23 – Work begins at the Colonie home slated for an extreme makeover.
A day after Debbie Oatman-Gaitan of Colonie and her four sons were woken to Ty Pennington’s calling card morning greeting that kicks off each episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, crews are already hard at work.
At noon, Friday, March 23, volunteer crews began packing the family’s belongings into moving trucks and prepped the property for a scheduled demolition of the home Saturday morning.
The show designs, builds, landscapes and stuffs homes with amenities in one week for families across the country whose homes and lives are in need of a makeover. The pace is break neck, and more than 1,500 volunteers have answered Albany builders, Amedore Homes’, call for volunteers.
Oatman-Gaitan lives on Fairway Lane off Consaul Road, north of The Town of Colonie Golf Course. Traffic on Fairway Lane has been limited to local traffic only as construction is underway.
The family was sent on a week’s vacation as their home is under construction.
The unveiling of the new home is scheduled for Thursday, March 29.
