A facility needs analysis for the town of Bethlehem property reveals space is tight, and architects believe more than $24 million worth of new buildings and grounds are needed, including an $11 million public safety facility.
The report compiled by the town’s public works department shows the current town space needs exceed the capacity of its existing facilities, and the recommendation is to relocate the police and court functions out of town hall into a new facility near the town center. The town will have to find 11 acres to accommodate the new facility if the board goes ahead with the report findings.
We have to look at the recommendations and start reviewing options, said board member Kyle Kotary.
Kotary said the needs analysis does not mean all or any of the findings will automatically be approved.
The study also calls for modifying town hall and co-locating the highway department and department of public works at the town’s 74 Elm Ave. site.“
