Paul Harris, 44, of Krumkill Road, New Scotland, has been charged with resisting arrest and criminal possession of a weapon along with being a fugitive from justice.
Harris, who allegedly hit a police officer with his car last January in Indian County, Florida, was driving in Colonie early Thursday morning, Jan. 4, when a police officer ran a check of his car’s license plate number.
A short time later, police arrived at 881 Krumkill Road to take Harris into custody, and he refused to exit the home.
After a standoff lasting close to nine hours, tear gas was finally used to apprehend the New Scotland resident and take him into custody.
Harris pled not guilty during his arraignment in Town Court on Friday, Jan. 5.
He will reappear Feb. 1 in court.
