The town of Malta has installed three emergency warning sirens: one is located at the Malta Community Park on Plains Road, the second is located at Shenantaha Creek Park on East Line Road and the third is located at the Town Complex on Route 9. To routinely test these sirens and to familiarize the residents with the Emergency Notification System, the town will activate these sirens quarterly with the next test to take place on Thursday, Dec. 28, at 10:30 a.m. The emergency warning sirens will activate and sound for approximately 60 seconds.
The sirens were installed to alert town residents of an impending danger, to allow them to take appropriate emergency precautions and to turn to WGY AM and Star 101.3 FM for further information. These sirens are expected to enhance the town’s emergency notification system and address a need identified in the town’s comprehensive emergency management plan.
