Christopher Porco has been sentenced today to 50 years to life for the murder of his father, Peter, and the attempted murder of his mother, Joan.
Orange County Judge Jeffery Berry sentenced Porco, found guilty by an Orange County jury in August, to 25 years to life for murder and 25 years for the attempted murder.
Porco spoke to the packed Albany County courtroom before Berry made his decision. I miss my dad so much, and my heart aches for my mom, he said.
Joan Porco and Peter’s sister, Patty Szoztak, also made statements.
`You have discretion,` Joan Porco said. `Please let Christopher see freedom in my lifetime.`
