Everyone’s favorite purple dinosaur is coming to the capital district. Barney Live, the Let’s Go tour, will be at the Pepsi Arena and preschoolers from all over the area will be `catching raindrops and lemon drops,` as they get down with Barney.
`Barney is a staple in preschooler’s loves, helping to encourage important socio-emotional and cognitive skills form ABC’s and 123’s, to good manners and thoughtful pro-social behavior,` says Jamie Cygielman, Senior Vice President of Consumer Products for Kaleidoscope, the company sponsoring the tour which runs September 16th and 17th.
The tour come just in time for PBS’s new fall lineup including all new episodes of Barnet, The new season starts September 18th and will of course include all your favorites, BJ, Baby Bop, and a new character Riff. Cousin Riff, a six-year-old Hadrosaur, loves music so much that her forehead blinks whenever she is creating music.
The `Let’s Go Tour` tells the story of a show stopping adventure to the toy factory. During Barney’s journey, he meets up with dancing teddy bears, out of this world robots and many more surprises.
Cygielman says the timeless allure of Barney is due to the writing that is guided by child development experts.
`These hands on writers insure the show is interesting, meaningful and relevant,` says Cygielman.
Riff is the first new character in Barney’s thirteen year run on PBS. The tour will help promote the character along with TV, the website and home entertainment products. Riff’s character also brings a new aspect of diversity to the show. Through the character, the show will introduce children to diverse styles and musical influences, such as jazz, Latin, classical, country and rock.
`Barney’s strong appeal is born out of the relationship that children have with him, he speaks to and appeals to young children. He emotes a sense of kindness and goodness. Barney springs from a child’s imagination and invites children to go and grow as they explore exciting places,` said Cygielman.
