There could be delays in construction projects at Mohonasen schools, according to a district official.
We do have some concerns about being on time, assistant superintendent for business Denise Swezey told board of education members last week.
She noted that much of the work was not scheduled for completion until December or January, and some of those projects could fall behind schedule, too. She said she does expect the library to open before Labor Day.
`They are on track with the library and that is key to getting that open by Labor Day.`
Swezey said the district still hopes to have the roof on Bradt Intermediate School completed by the end of summer.
Swezey said a district employee is still working toward a new traffic light. `Jim Miller is still trying to coordinate a meeting for that,` she informed board members, adding that the new Curry Road sign is expected to be up before school begins.
In other action, board members authorized contracting with Susan B. Stec for physical therapy services for district students at a cost of $53 per hour, not to exceed $29,000, for the school year.
Michael Klugman was granted tenure appointment as administrator for science, kindergarten-12, effective Dec. 15.
The board accepted resignations from attendance clerk Kathleen DeSousa, teaching assistants Ann DeCesare and Laurel Straight, teacher’s aide Patricia Coughlin, substitute cleaner Roosevelt Dundas, and part-time bus drivers Thomas Gravell Sr. and Silvio Tremante.
Receiving probationary appointments in elementary education were Cheryl Cassino and Jeanette Wager.
Mary Coman and Lindsey Horton were appointed as long-term substitutes.
Ryan Turnbull was appointed as a volunteer varsity football coach, effective Aug. 8.
