Remember Those Who Keep Us Safe
Come and honor our first responders on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m. at the Beltrone Living Center. This annual event is an opportunity for the Senior Citizens of Colonie to remember, recognize, and honor the dedicated and hard working men and women who regularly endanger themselves to keep us safe. This event is hosted and sponsored by Colonie Senior Citizens Club, Hart Social Center, and Colonie Senior Service Centers. No RSVP is required.

Special lunch
Come join us for a special lunch, provided by Mazzone Hospitality’s PRIME Life, on Monday, Sept. 12, at the Beltrone Living Center at noon.  We will be serving ham salad on a wheat bun with three bean salad, sweet potato fries and apple pie filling with whipped topping for dessert, with entertainment by Eric Peterson.*

Umbrella luncheon
The Umbrella of Colonie will host a luncheon for Umbrella members and handymen on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at noon in the Lakeview Dining room. The complimentary lunch will include corned flake chicken thighs, baked beans, brussel sprouts and pineapple for dessert. For more information or RSVP, please call 459-2857, ext. 303.

Defensive driving class
Save on your auto insurance and mark your calendar for Thursday, Sept, 22. The Driver Fitness Center offers a defensive driving class from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for $25.  The class is open to drivers of any age. For more information and to RSVP call 459-2857, ext. 303.

Special dinner
Come and join us for a special dinner, provided by Mazzone Hospitality’s PRIME Life, on Monday, Sept. 26, at the Beltrone Living Center at 5 p.m.  We will be serving eggplant parmesan with romaine salad and sherbet for dessert, with entertainment by Hill Country Cloggers.*

CarFit clinic
Make sure your car fits you. CSSC’s Driver Fitness Center presents a CarFit clinic Wednesday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Beltrone Living Center North Parking Lot. The 12-point CarFit checklist takes just 20 minutes and is an evaluation to ensure a proper fit in your vehicle. It includes a safety belt fit, steering wheel tilt, etc. Free and open to the public aged 55+. Appointments available, and drop ins are welcome. For information and reservations, call 459-2857 ext. 303.

Explore the Possibilities
This is the theme of this year’s Active Aging Celebration, sponsored by Interim Health and also by CDPHP and Loudonville Adult Home. On Thursday, Sept. 29, dozens of health and wellness experts will be available at the Beltrone Living Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to help you “Explore the Possibilities” in your community. Free balance assessments, blood pressure screenings and fitness assessments will be provided, as well as tastings of delicious, healthy recipes. For more information or to schedule a flu shot at the event, call 459-2857, ext. 303.

Tool Box
Fall is coming. Home and garden improvement projects are wrapping up, and if you are looking to donate new and slightly used tools, come in to the Tool Box. Stop in between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays or Saturdays, and work with our friendly and knowledgeable volunteers to pass your “old friends” on to the next tool lover. If you have any questions about what we accept, give us a call at 608-4758 or email [email protected]!

*Senior Dining, an Albany County Congregate Meal Program, is funded in part by the Albany County Dept. for Aging, the NYS Office for Aging, US Administration on Aging, the Town of Colonie & participant contributions. All reservations must be made by noon the previous business day. Please call 459-2857, ext. 303 to reserve your seat.
