ALBANY — Students at Tech Valley High School gathered for an All-School Meeting on Friday, Sept. 13, where they pitched new and returning clubs for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The meeting featured a variety of club presentations, inviting students to engage in extracurricular activities ranging from eSports to crafting.
Among the clubs presented was the eSports club, which focuses on organized, multiplayer video game competitions, particularly between teams or individuals. These competitions can range from strategy games to first-person shooters, and the activity is growing as a global entertainment and professional industry.
The Robotics Club offers students a chance to design, build, and program robots, often using tools such as LEGO Mindstorms or VEX Robotics kits. Robotics encourages problem-solving, engineering, and collaboration as students work to make robots perform specific tasks.
The Rube Goldberg Club centers around constructing elaborate and overly complex machines designed to indirectly complete simple tasks. Named after the famous cartoonist Rube Goldberg, these machines emphasize creativity and an understanding of physics and mechanics.
The first club meetings were to take place on Friday, Sept. 20.
