Last week Schalmont Central School District released an efficiency study completed by Advisory Solutions, a consultant group created by the New York State School Boards Association, which provides suggestions on how the school can address financial concerns the district must address.
It is critical we hear from residents now about their values, their priorities and sacrifices they’re willing to make, said Valerie Kelsey, superintendent for the district, in a prepared statement. `Together, we must build a stronger and more efficient school system.`
The study presents different options the school district can take, which start with changing nothing about the district to closing schools or combining attendance zones.
Residents have a chance to share their ideas and concerns during a series of upcoming discussions. The first two dates will begin with a presentation in the high school auditorium before a discussion about the efficiency study; it is not necessary for residents to attend both dates. Residents are encouraged to attend all of the following discussions.
Wednesday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. ` Presentation in the high school auditorium followed by a roundtable discussion in the cafeteria.
Thursday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. ` Presentation in the high school auditorium followed by a roundtable discussion in the cafeteria.
Wednesday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. ` Roundtable discussion in high school cafeteria
Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m. ` Roundtable discussion in high school cafeteria
Monday, Dec. 13, at 6 p.m. ` Roundtable discussion in middle school cafeteria
