The Niskayuna girls basketball team extended its winning streak to three games with last Friday’s 45-36 Suburban Council victory over Columbia in East Greenbush.
The game turned in the Silver Warriors’ favor in the second quarter when they outscored the Blue Devils 13-3 to build a 23-13 halftime lead.
Ashley McCaughan netted 17 points, and Kim Fagan added eight points for Niskayuna (4-7 league, 5-7 overall).
In other girls basketball action last Friday, Mohonasen picked up a key Suburban Council victory by beating Shenendehowa 57-51 in Rotterdam.
Dayna Lashin scored 15 points, and Ashley Tallman added 14 points for the Mighty Warriors (8-4, 9-4), who led 17-10 after one quarter.
After falling behind 12-6 in the first quarter, Schenectady Christian outscored Schoharie 37-15 to defeat the Indians 43-27 in a Western Athletic Conference game. Heidi Frazer netted 15 points, and Monica Compton added 14 points for the Falcons (8-1, 11-2).
Schalmont (1-12) couldn’t overcome a 14-point deficit in a 46-43 loss to Cohoes. Kelly Piotrowski had nine points for the Sabres.
Scotia-Glenville (8-1, 10-3) defeated Hudson Falls 54-45 in last Thursday’s Foothills Council game. Cassie Broadhead’s 22 points paced the Lady Tartans.`
