ROTTERDAM – The Shaker lacrosse team lost a heartbreaker to Lakeland-Panas 10-9 in the Class A regionals on Saturday, June 3, at Mohonasen High School.
The Blue Bison were up two goals with under a minute left, but Lakeland standout Joe Janavey scored a goal with 42.4 second left and another with just more than 16.4 second left to win what was an exciting, back and forth game.
Janavey led all scorers with five goals and two assists for the No. 1 seed Lakeland squad from Section I.
Jack Cheney had four goals for Shaker while Luke Julien had two goals and an assist. Michael Stiso, Nick Pepe and Andrew O’Connor each had a goal for Shaker.
Brendan Morrison had a dozen saves in goal for the Blue Bison.
Tim Follo had two goals for Lakeland while Drew Thompson Griffin Shiland and Sean Laukitas chipped in a goal each.
Lakeland goalie Kevin Dyyman had 16 goals.

Lakeland will now play Section Eleven’s Ward Melville at UAlbany on June 7.
