Town officials recognized the service of 29 firefighters from the five fire departments that sent volunteers to Broome County to assist in the aftermath of the June floods that devastated the area and compromised water, sewer and natural gas services and emergency response.
The 29 volunteers assisted state and local agencies over the course of four days with getting those services back to residents, as well as providing needed fire prevention services.
The firefighters were awarded certificates for their outstanding service.
