Here is a look ahead to tonight’s Suburban Council girls basketball games:
Albany (11-4) at Shenendehowa (14-1) — The Falcons have been playing well since an 0-2 start, but the Plainsmen will present a stern challenge.
Averill Park (7-8) at Columbia (13-2) — The Blue Devils have been slipping lately, and now they have a deceptively good Averill Park team visiting East Greenbush.
Ballston Spa (4-10) at Guilderland (3-12) — Two teams searching for wins. Scoring depth will be the key in this one.
Bethlehem (8-5) at Mohonasen (7-8) — Saeeda Abdul-Aziz is a great player, but she alone won’t be enough for Mohonasen to beat a well-balanced Bethlehem team.
Burnt Hills (1-13) at Colonie (8-6) — After a tough 71-64 home loss to Shenendehowa, Colonie catches a break by hosting Burnt Hills.
Schenectady (1-14) at Saratoga (10-5) — Expect a bunch of three-pointers from Saratoga, which has two of the best long-range shooters in the league in Catherine Cairns and Kerry Flaherty.
Troy (7-7) at Shaker (14-1) — Troy defeated Shaker in a non-league game during Christmas break. Since then, it’s been all downhill for the Flying Horses. Look for the Blue Bison to avenge that loss.
Non-league: Amsterdam (13-2) at Niskayuna (6-9) — It’s a safe bet Amsterdam doesn’t see high-caliber players like Niskayuna’s Olivia Owens on a regular basis playing in the smaller Foothills Council, but the Running Rams have better depth of talent than the Silver Warriors.
