The Bethlehem Youth Hockey Bantam A team took first place at the Rink Rat Tournament with Monday’s 3-2 overtime win against Mohawk Valley (Utica). The Eagles split their first two games of the tournament, which was sponsored by the Troy Albany Hockey Association. They defeated Mohawk Valley 6-2 before losing to Voisins ru Richelieu from Quebec 3-2. Bethlehem then edged Troy Albany 4-3 and Richfield, Conn., 8-2 to advance to the finals. `Our team was gritty and tough, and (we) played hard to secure the win,` said Bethlehem coach Marty Hull. `These kids are tough competitors who kept their focus throughout the tournament to overcome small setbacks for the big win. I am proud of our team.` The Rink Rat Tournament featured 58 teams from different youth divisions playing a total of 131 games. The event brought in an estimated $1 million to the local economy.
