COLONIE – Any student in eighth grade or younger attending home football games must be accompanied by an adult, according to a new policy by the North Colonie School District announced on Thursday, Oct. 11.
“As you may know, our football team has enjoyed great success the past few seasons,” according to a statement on the district website. “As a result, attendance at our games has been higher than usual. With this success comes the challenge of making sure that we provide a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for all those attending the games.”
The new policy will go into effect for the Oct. 19 home game against Colonie, the last of the season.
The Shaker team is 6-0 and sits atop the Section II Class AA standings.
The grade a student is in will be verified at the gate. Also, all students in grades seven through 12 will be required to carry a valid school ID while attending home football games.
