Man arrested burglarizing Delaware Avenue business
DELMAR – Bethlehem police responded to a burglary in progress at Shannon Chiropractic Wellness, LLC at 397 Kenwood Avenue on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 11:42 PM where they found an Albany man burglarizing the Four-Corners business.
According to reports, when officers arrived, they found Lawrence Femminella, 54, inside the building. Upon investigation it was discovered that Femminella had forced entry into the building.
Femminella was arrested and charged with burglary and criminal mischief, both felonies, and petit larceny, criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal contempt, and possession of burglar tools, all misdemeanors.
He was arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court by Judge Ryan Donovan then sent to the Albany County jail without bail.
A preliminary hearing is set for December 12.
During the investigation it was also learned that Femminella was currently under the supervision of New York State Parole. A check showed he has been convicted four times previously for burglary or criminal possession of stolen property and served four separate sentences in state prison.
Criminal mischief and warrant
DELMAR – On November 22, Bethlehem police received a call from a contractor working on a house on Orchard Street reporting that the door to the building was damaged.
According to reports, a person attempted to gain entry to the house and damaged the deadbolt and door knob, but the locks held.
During the investigation, detectives discovered that Christian Markus, 31, of Albany, allegedly called a neighbor of the property to ask the status of the construction and indicated that he was going to be moving into the house when it was finished.
While interviewing Markus on another case, he allegedly admitted to the damage to the door. He was charged with criminal mischief, a misdemeanor. He was given an appearance ticket for Bethlehem town court on December 19.
Markus also had an outstanding State Police warrant and was processed on that.
Identity theft and grand larceny
DELMAR – A Bethlehem police arrested an Albany man on Tuesday, Dec. 5 for allegedly attempting to cash a fraudulent check at Pioneer bank on Delaware Avenue.
According to reports, David Pells, 65, presented a check that appeared to be fraudulent on November 8 and provided a passport as identification.
After an investigation, detectives arrested Pells and charged him with identity theft and grand larceny, both felonies. He was processed and released with an appearance ticket for Bethlehem Town Court.
2022 larceny and warrant
RENSSELAER – Bethlehem police picked up a Troy man on Friday, Dec. 1 after he failed to show up for court in regards to a 2022 larceny at Walmart in Glenmont.
Leanard Neal III, 28, was originally arrested in May 2022 and charged with petit larceny. At that time he also had three outstanding warrants with other agencies, but none of them were able to take him at the time. He was released with an appearance ticket for Bethlehem Town Court, but never showed up.
This time, he was arraigned on the original charge and the warrant by Bethlehem Town Judge Ryan Donovan and was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled back in court on December 5.
2022 Criminal impersonation and warrant
DELMAR – A 22-year-old Albany woman was arrested for an outstanding warrant from Bethlehem Town Court on December 5 for not showing up for court after an incident at Walmart in 2022 where she allegedly gave police fake information to conceal that she had another outstanding warrant at that time.
Haylasha Maeweather gave the name of her twin sister when she and two other women were detained for suspicion of stealing items from the Glenmont Walmart in October 2022 to conceal that she had an outstanding warrant from North Greenbush police.
At that time, she was charged with criminal impersonation, a misdemeanor, and released with an appearance ticket for Bethlehem Town Court.
She was arraigned this time by Bethlehem Town Judge Ryan Donovan and was released on her own recognizance.
