With the new year underway, the Bethlehem YMCA is offering new classes and new sessions of popular favorite wellness classes and fitness programs. As always, stop by the Y or call 439-4394 for more information about these offerings that begin this week.
Girls lacrosse training — The Bethlehem Y is conducting pre-season girls lacrosse workouts on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6:30 p.m. Get a jump on the pre-season with a good variety of high intensity exercises and reactive training that will prepare you to have your best season ever.
Fit Over 50 Boot Camp — This class is designed for anyone over the age of 50 looking to improve their health and happiness. Each class will keep you fit and challenged, guessing what fitness feats your body can conquer. Fit Over 50 Boot Camp keeps it interesting with the use of a variety of resistance bands, kettlebells, dumbbells and more. The class combines cardio, strength training and flexibility segments to give you a challenging total body workout. Contact Gerry Cunningham at the Bethlehem Y for more information.
Triathlon training — If you are looking to really push yourself into the best shape of your life, try tri. The Bethlehem YMCA has an excellent triathlon training program, led by Stephano Fontana, that will get you ready for the tri season with cycling, running, yoga, high-intensity interval training and more. The program is held on Tuesdays at 7 p.m., Thursdays at 6 a.m. and Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m.
Tumbling Tots & Tykes — One of the best ways to set your kids on their way to a healthy lifestyle is by coming to the Y’s Tumbling Tots and Tykes classes. The classes will focus on physical and social development, and are designed to encourage whole body exercise including development in strength, flexibility and coordination. Classes allow children to channel their physical energy, while learning to socialize with others in a safe and fun environment.
The 45-minute classes begin Jan. 16. Tumbling Tots for kids ages 2 to 3 will be held Mondays at 11:45 a.m., and Tumbling Tykes for kids age 4 will be held on Wednesdays at 3:15 p.m. and Fridays at 2 p.m.
Explore acting — Ever wonder what it takes to put on a show? The Bethlehem YMCA has a new program to help young actors and actresses learn the craft. The program, for 10- to 18-year-olds, will explore the various aspects of theater from acting to design work and so much more. The seven-week class is held on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. Contact Rusty Decker at the Y for more information.
Parents’ Night Out
Hey, parents! Ready for a night out without the kids? The Bethlehem YMCA has you covered with another Parents’ Night Out on Saturday, Jan. 28, from 5 to 9 p.m. The Y’s staff will make sure your kids have fun with our bounce house, obstacle course, gaga pit, gym games, board games and swimming. It’s less expensive than a babysitter and much more fun. It’s just $10 for members and $15 for non-members, with an additional $8 for each sibling.
YMCA Parents’ Night Out is for kids from 6 months old to eighth grade, with younger children (6 months to 5 years) placed in our Children’s Corner room. Space is limited, so please call or stop by the Bethlehem YMCA to reserve your spot.
