ALBANY — Brian Wilson is bringing his Pet Sounds 50th Anniversary World Tour to Albany’s Palace Theatre on April 26, 2017.
Wilson and his band, which includes former Beach Boys members Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin, will perform the entire “Pet Sounds” album, as well as other hits and fan favorites from the classic American band’s catalogue.
“There were so many cities on this great tour that myself, my band, Al and Blondie just couldn’t get to playing,” Wilson said in a press release. “We’re performing more shows than ever before, and the fans keep asking for more. It’s been a real trip so far, and I’m happy that we’ll have the chance to reach so many people that weren’t able to catch our shows.”
The originator of the California Sound, Wilson was the man behind the success of the Beach Boys in the ‘60s. In addition to performing on stage, he is responsible for writing or co-writing more than two dozen Top 40 hits for the super group. His early success allowed him to unprecedented freedom in the recording studio, where he was allowed complete autonomy to produce without corporate input.
The Grammy-award winning artist was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. Rolling Stone magazine listed him among its “100 Greatest Singers of All Time” in 2008.
Tickets range from $39.75 to $89.75 and are on sale at the Palace Theatre box office, through Ticketmaster Charge-by-Phone at 800-745-3000 or online at ticketmaster.com.
