The Bethlehem girls basketball team punched its ticket to the Section 2 Class AA semifinals with a 62-43 quarterfinal win against Catholic Central Monday, March 2.
The Lady Eagles (18-2) turned a two-point lead into a nine-point halftime advantage by outscoring the Crusaders (11-10) 19-12 in the second quarter. Bethlehem continued the trend in the second half on its way to a 19-point victory.
Gabby Giacone had 24 points, and Emily Wander contributed 14 points for Bethlehem, which extended its winning streak to 12 games. Sarina Schwing had 12 points for Catholic Central.
Bethlehem meets Colonie in the Class AA semifinals Thursday, March 5, at 6 p.m. at Hudson Valley Community College. Colonie defeated Albany 63-55 in a quarterfinal game March 2.
