COLONIE — In front of a large contingent of home-field fans, the Raiders got by Bethlehem in the Class AA quarterfinals by a score of 1-0.
The lone goal came on a penalty kick inside the box by Colonie Captain Bella Franchi, who drilled a shot into the upper right corner of the net at the 65:13 mark with such velocity Bethlehem keeper Kinsley Logsdon didn’t have a chance.
The game was dominated by defense on both ends with Logsdon making a number of close saves to keep Bethlehem in the game. Colonie keeper Hailey Blake got the shutout.
The Eagles played all season without the best player female player in the Capital District, Claire Hutton, who played on the boys team to better prepare her for her college career at North Carolina.
Colonie, the No. 3 seed, will take on the No. 2 seed Shenendehowa at Mechanicville High School. The semifinal game is set for Tuesday at 5 p.m. The other bracket features the No. 1 seed Shaker versus the No. 5 seed Saratoga. That game follows the first.
