Police respond to shots fired call at local hotel
LATHAM – Colonie police responded to a domestic dispute on Friday, April 18 at the Colonie Inn and Suites on Loudon Road and eventually arrested two Troy men on a variety of charges.
According to reports, police received reports that Trent Bariteau, 38, allegedly discharged a firearm at the scene, but left before officers arrived. He was stopped on the Route 7 bypass in a car driven by Shalier Townsend, 36, a short time later and taken into custody.
The weapon was determined to be an imitation firearm. Bariteau was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, and menacing with a weapon, a misdemeanor.
An investigation found that Townsend did not have a valid license, but did have a quantity of cocaine on his person.
He was charged with criminal possession of cocaine, a felony, and reckless endangerment, unlawfully fleeing a police officer and aggravated unlicensed operation, and ticketed for speeding and illegal signal.
Both were sent to the Albany County jail as pre-arraignment detainees and arraigned the next day.
