ALBANY — City Line Bar and Grill, located across from the University at Albany’s uptown campus, has announced a change in ownership. Co-founder Ryan Jankow has sold his interest in the restaurant to longtime business partner Rob Malkus, who will continue operations as the sole owner.
The restaurant opened in 2014, taking over the space formerly occupied by Sutter’s Mill & Mining Co. Jankow and Malkus spent the past decade growing City Line into a popular neighborhood destination, known for its casual dining and community ties.
“It’s been an incredible experience building City Line Bar and Grill alongside Rob,” Jankow said in a statement. “I’m proud of everything we’ve accomplished and grateful to our team and loyal guests who helped make it all possible.”
Malkus will continue to lead the restaurant and said the mission remains unchanged. “We opened City Line with the goal of creating a place where people feel at home,” he said. “I’m honored to continue serving this community.”
As part of the transition, City Line is bringing in Chef Ryan O’Shea to oversee kitchen operations. O’Shea has worked as a private chef and led his own catering company, and plans to introduce seasonal updates and comfort food-inspired dishes to the menu.
Jankow and Malkus are also preparing to launch a new venture, Bloom Boutique Bar & Eatery, which is expected to open in the coming weeks.
City Line will remain open throughout the transition. More information is available at citylinebar.com.
