COLONIE — Police confiscated the 15th illegal firearm of 2020 on Friday, July 31, after a traffic stop on Winners Circle.
According to Lt. Robert Winn, a 23-year-old Troy man, Julian Soto, was a passenger in a 2016 Hyundai stopped by Patrol Officer Austin Blais at around 2:48 a.m.
Blais found him allegedly in possession of a loaded Phoenix Arms Raven .25 handgun. He was also found to have an order of protection filed out of Rensselaer County that prohibits him from possessing any firearm.
There were four other occupants of the vehicle, two adults and two juveniles.
The two adults were ticketed for unlawful possession of marijuana and released. The driver, Eric Stroud, was ticketed for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, failure to obey a traffic control device, failure to stay in a single lane and failure to signal.
Soto was charged with two felonies of criminal possession of a weapon and the misdemeanor of criminal contempt. He was sent to the Albany County jail pending arraignment.
