The Loudon House project has been a hot topic for many Colonie residents, and at the Thursday, July 26, meeting Town Board they’ll have another chance to voice their concerns.
The Town Board wants to change zoning of the 2.63-acre parcel at Menands Road and Schuyler Road from planned development district to single family residential. A public hearing on the matter will be held before the 7 p.m. meeting. The board could approve the change that evening.
Changing the zoning would essentially force the stalled condominium project’s developer to finish the project in 18 months.
In other news, the Town of Colonie will have to shell out $12,236.46 less than it thought after the Wolf Road and Old Niskayuna Road Wastewater Pump Stations Fuel Cell Removal and Generator Replacement Project came in under budget. A resolution to change the dollar amount in the agreement with CDE Electric, Inc. was passed at the Thursday, July 12, Town Board meeting.
“The project came in under budget despite a slight increase in time to complete it,” said Town Board Member Dan Hornick.
A below ground tank to fuel a generator used to power the sewer pump around Wolf Road and Old Niskayuna Road in the event of electricity loss was removed when regulations regarding underground storage tanks changed. Department of Public Works Commissioner Jack Cunningham said it was cheaper to run a gas line than to replace the underground tank with an above ground one.
“We put a gas powered generator in, so we run natural gas to the site and now the backup generator runs on natural gas,” said Cunningham.
The board scheduled two other public hearings for its July 26 meeting. A public hearing in connection with authorizing a stop sign at the end of Antoinette Lane and a public hearing to prohibit left turns from Sand Creek Road into the CVS Pharmacy will be held at 7 p.m. on July 26.
