Fourth graders at Division Street Elementary School in Saratoga Springs gave out bear hugs on Tuesday, Dec. 21. Students from Colleen Potter’s class were collaborating with a local not-for-profit organization called Bridging People and Places to dress teddy bears in handmade sweaters and hats for delivery to children in need. The program, called `Kids Helping Kids Bear Hugs Program,` provided an opportunity for children to work on a project that directly impacts other youth, and to learn firsthand the importance of caring and sharing through volunteering. The fourth-graders were alaso creating `bear dens` decorated with positive messages for the recipients. “
