A tractor trailer struck the New York State Thruway overpass on Route 144 (River Road) at approximately 11:20 this morning. Arriving at the scene were Coeyman’s police and fire departments, Ravena ambulance, state police fleet bridge inspectors and state Department of Transportation officials.
According to a witness, the driver had just dumped a load of scrap metal and was towing an empty trailer.
The driver was taken to Albany Medical Center with a chest injury.
As of late afternoon Monday, the road remains closed.
