Bethlehem Central Schools officials have named longtime Bethlehem Central teacher Dianna Reagan as the principal of Eagle Elementary, the district’s newest elementary school.
Reagan is currently the district’s English language arts supervisor. She began her teaching career 18 years ago at Slingerlands Elementary School. She served as the school’s assistant principal for two years and was named acting principal at Clarksville Elementary when Principal Dorothy McDonald had to take medical leave earlier this year.
Bethlehem Central is such a big part of me that it will be wonderful to step into this role, Reagan said after the Jan. 23 special meeting of the Bethlehem Central School Board at which her promotion was announced.
Reagan earned her Bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Miami University of Ohio in 1989. She then received a master’s degree in reading from the College of St. Rose in 1994. In 2005, she received her school administration and supervision certification from the University at Albany.
`I don’t think I really appreciated what a difference a principal makes until I sat on the board for a couple of years,` said School Board President James Lytle. He said Reagan was chosen from over 50 applicants. `It’s a tribute to the district that we found someone from within the district.`
