New senior condominiums took center stage in the village of Voorheesville in an official grand opening Saturday.
Approximately 200 people walked through the newly furnished rooms of the two-story building, located at the corner of Stonington Hill Road and Maple Avenue.
Built by CM Fox Living Solutions, a subsidiary of CM Fox Real Estate, Severson Manor is comprised of nine residential units designed for independent senior living. Its location is right in the heart of the village.
This is a perfect location in which residents can walk on sidewalks to the nearby post office, bank, drug store and other close amenities in the center of the village, CM Fox owner Troy Miller said. `We sold two units during construction already.`
Miller said prices ran from $169,000 to $250,000 per unit.
Severson Manor features handicap accessible bathrooms, washers and dryers, electric stoves and hot water heaters. Residents must be a minimum of 62 years old to live in the building.
CM Fox received village approval in April to construct the condos. The company completed building condominiums in the village of Altamont last February.
New Scotland Supervisor Ed Clark said the location of the condominiums was ideal for seniors, and the price is affordable.
`It is a good thing for the community,` Clark said.
He said it was very convenient for seniors because it was near commonly used facilities.
`This will allow people to stay in Voorheesville near families in the village and nearby New Scotland,` Clark said.
There will be another open house Saturday, Dec. 1, from 2 to 4 p.m.“
