Residents of Bethlehem will have the opportunity to meet each other and develop new friendships when Delmar Florist, 257 Delaware Ave. hosts its annual FTD Good Neighbor Day on Wednesday, Sept. 5.
Beginning at 8 a.m., Delmar Florist will give away flowers in bunches of a dozen, free to anyone who visits the shop, while supplies last.
There is, however, one catch, and Barbara Ostroff, the owner of Delmar Florist is hoping the goodwill is exactly that catching.`
Those who pick up a dozen free flowers will be asked to sign a promise to keep one of the flowers for themselves and give the others away to 11 different people ` spreading goodwill and friendship throughout the community.
Ostroff is also asking that anyone who picks up a dozen that they donate one or more nonperishable food items to the Bethlehem Food Pantry.
`We hope that the people of Bethlehem will be able to get acquainted with new people or will renew an old friendship during FTD Good Neighbor Day,` said Ostroff. `We hope to help create a friendlier, more caring and compassionate world, starting right here in Bethlehem.`
FTD Good Neighbor Day is being celebrated for the 12th year throughout the United States and Canada at participating FTD floral shops.
Joining the effort at Delmar Florist are local sponsors, the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce, TD Bankworth, Jerry Pittz, and Spotlight Newspapers, who have pitched in to help make FTD Good Neighbor Day a successful, `neighborly` celebration.
It is expected that thousands of FTD Florists in North America will participate in this year’s Good Neighbor Day event, giving away millions of free flowers.“
