Town of Halfmoon Announces Free Narcan Training Session for Town Residents

April 18 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

The free training is provided in conjunction with the Saratoga County Department of Health and the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office

Learn how to save a life in just 10 minutes

HALFMOON, NY – The Town of Halfmoon today proudly announced a collaborative effort with the Saratoga County Department of Health and the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office to offer a free lifesaving Narcan Training session on Monday, April 29, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Halfmoon Town Hall, located at 2 Halfmoon Town Plaza, Halfmoon, NY 12065.

Participants in the free training will learn to identify signs of an opioid overdose and safely administer Naloxone, commonly known as Narcan, a nasal spray that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

Statistics show that Naloxone has been a critical tool in saving lives, with nearly 27,000 lives saved due to Narcan kits distributed to friends and family. In 2019 alone, nearly 50,000 people died from opioid-involved overdoses, highlighting the importance of widespread Naloxone availability and training.

The training is free and open to the public, and attendees will receive complimentary Narcan kits. This initiative is part of the Town of Halfmoon’s ongoing commitment to public health and aligns with its continued partnership with the Saratoga County Department of Health and Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office to address the opioid crisis.

Halfmoon Town Supervisor Kevin Tollisen stated, “We are committed to the health and safety of our community. I encourage every resident of Halfmoon to join us for this important session. Halfmoon is proud to partner with the Saratoga County Department of Health and the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office to offer this free training to learn how to save lives and make a difference in the fight against opioid overdoses. Let’s come together to learn, prepare, and protect our loved ones.”
