HALFMOON, NY – The Town of Halfmoon announced the upcoming Canal Clean Sweep event, part of a series of cleanups and trail walks designed to bring the community together in celebration of the shared environment and public spaces. Details on both events are listed below:

 

Canal Clean Sweep Event Details:

 

Date: Saturday, April 20, 2024

Time: 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Location: Crescent Park, Terminal Road, Halfmoon

 

In recognition of Earth Day 2024, the Town of Halfmoon invites volunteers to join in cleaning up Crescent Park. Participants will be provided gloves and trash bags at the bottom of Terminal Road. This event is a wonderful opportunity to make a tangible difference in the community while enjoying the great outdoors.

 

Trail Walk Series Dates:

 

National Trail Walk Day: Saturday, June 1, 2024 – Zim Smith Trail

Champlain Canal Walk: Saturday, September 14, 2024 – Champlain Canal

Erie Canal Trail Walk: Saturday, October 5, 2024 – Erie Canal Trail

 

Halfmoon Town Supervisor Kevin Tollisen expressed his enthusiasm for the events: “We are thrilled to welcome our Halfmoon residents to participate in these community events. It’s a chance to take pride in our terrific Town and ensure that our trails and parks remain beautiful for everyone to enjoy. We look forward to seeing many familiar and new faces during the Canal Clean Sweep and our Trail Walk Series.”

 

The Town of Halfmoon is also pleased to provide lunch after the trail walks as a token of appreciation for the volunteers’ efforts.

This series of events is a collaborative effort with the Trails and Open Space Committee, reflecting the Town’s ongoing strong commitment to fostering community engagement and environmental stewardship.
