ALBANY/COHOES — A Cohoes teen with a passion for hair and makeup is gaining national attention through her social media presence.
Morgan DiGiuseppe, a senior enrolled in the Cosmetology program at Capital Region BOCES, recently received a partnership offer from NYX Cosmetics, a nationally recognized brand known for offering professional-grade products at accessible prices.
“They reached out to me through my TikTok platform wanting to work with me,” DiGiuseppe said during a break from styling hair at the Career and Technical Education Center — Albany Campus.
DiGiuseppe has used TikTok for the past five years to demonstrate her abilities and share creative ideas.
“I like doing makeup and helping other people, while sharing my talents,” she said.
Founded in Los Angeles in 1999, NYX Cosmetics quickly grew by providing high-quality, affordable makeup and has since become a global brand. Known for its wide product range and strong social media presence, the company was acquired by L’Oréal in 2014 and is now sold in more than 70 countries.
At Capital Region BOCES, the Cosmetology program prepares high school juniors and seniors for licensure through hands-on instruction in hair styling, skin care, makeup artistry, and nail services. The two-year program blends classroom lessons with salon experience and follows the 1,000-hour requirement set by the New York State Education Department. Students also learn business and customer service skills, giving them a strong foundation for a range of careers in the beauty industry.
After graduation, DiGiuseppe plans to take the state cosmetology certification exam and obtain her license. She also hopes to continue growing her presence on TikTok and other social media platforms as a way to build her career.
“It’s a great way to reach a lot of people and show what I can do,” she said.
DiGiuseppe credits BOCES with supporting her goals.
“BOCES has a great support system in place, and everyone here is really great with sharing their knowledge and offering help,” she said.
Her teacher, Nicole Wentraub, said she is proud of DiGiuseppe’s achievements.
“I’m very proud of Morgan to be recognized by such an established makeup brand. She also excels in special effects makeup. I can’t wait to see what her future holds,” Wentraub said.
Morgan DiGiuseppe’s social media channels helped shine a light on her future career path. At least, that’s how she earned a partnership offer from NYX Cosmetics. Capital Region BOCES
