The Town Board of Niskayuna will hold three public hearings for amendments to subdivision regulations and the town code on Tuesday, Dec. 22, at 7 p.m. at the Niskayuna Town Hall.
The first proposed amendment to town code would set conditions for portable storage units, or PODS, for a person using a portable storage unit, including the submission of an application and receiving a building permit from the Town of Niskayuna Building Departments, an insurance certificate providing liability insurance in the amount of $100,000 provided by the company supplying the unit and a $50 fee for a 30-day permit for the use of a POD, according to town documents. The POD would also have to be set on an off-street surface and applicants would also have to obtain approval from the town building inspector if the property does not have a driveway, the unit is in the front lawn of a property or if the POD is in a corner lot.
The second proposed amendment to the town code would allow residents to install large wind energy facilities, small wind energy facilities or wind measurement towers on their property.
The third public hearing will make amendments to the Subdivision Regulations of the Town of Niskayuna regarding the planting of trees by developers, who would have to provide a tree planting plan as a part of their preliminary subdivision application.
The town will also look at ceremonial resolutions to recognize Frank Cannizzo and Marion Rhodes for their service to the town of Niskayauna.“
