New York State Police Computer Crimes Unit and New York State Police Troop G in Loudonville and arrested a man on charges of promoting and possessing child pornography on Monday, Jan. 31.
The FBI Albany Field Office assisted in the investigation.
The arrest was made after a search warrant was executed a the Graffin Drive residence of Colonie man Robert M. Relyea, 28. The warrant come from information obtained by the State of Florida Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force in collaboration with the New York State ICAC Task Force.
Relyea allegedly was in possession of child pornography and was distributing the material via the internet. Police confiscated his computer, hardware/software and numerous discs from his residence, according to a press release.
The charges against Relyea were possession of a sexual performance of a child, a class E felony, and promotion of a sexual performance of a child, a class D felony. He was arraigned at the Colonie Town Court and was remanded to Albany County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, according to the release.
