COHOES — The Palace Performing Arts Center, Inc. and the City of Cohoes are holding a “soft opening” weekend at the Cohoes Music Hall to kick off Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24 and 25, ahead of the hall’s grand re-opening.
The weekend kicks off at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, with an open house reception in the theater’s visitor center, which includes hors d’oeuvres from downtown Cohoes partner restaurants, beverages, music, drawings and more. Guided tours of the building will be provided until 5 p.m., when Spindle City Historic Society president Paul Dunleavy gives a 30-minute presentation about the early history of the Music Hall in the visitor center. The day concludes with a concert by the Dylan Perrillo Quartet at 7:30 p.m. The theater floor will be open to the public for dancing.
The events continue at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, with another open house reception, followed by a screening of the family film “The Sandlot” at 2 p.m.
Seating for the Saturday night concert and Sunday movie screening is general admission and is available in advance on a first come, first served basis at the Cohoes Music Hall or Palace Theatre box offices, as well as on the days of the events.
The Cohoes Music Hall is located at 58 Remsen St.
