GLENMONT — William Lauricella, competed in the 2022 Capital District Council for Young Musicians Annual Chopin Piano Competition, in which kids from all over the Capital District and Hudson Valley between the ages of 10 to 17 years old compete in three levels; novice, intermediate and masters.
Each child plays a piece composed by Fredric Chopin, one of the great piano composers. Lauricella won the Chopin competition, taking first place in the master’s level. He took home the $1,000 prize by performing “Ballade in G Minor, Op. 23, No. 1.”Lauricella has played in the ESYO for the past six years, participating in their percussion ensemble and symphony orchestra. The gifted musician has also participated in the Julliard and Manhattan School of Music pre-college programs for the past three years for both piano and percussion.
