COLONIE — A 28-year-old Albany woman turned herself in after video surveillance allegedly captured her pouring toilet bowl cleaner into a fish tank, killing eight of them.
According to Lt. Daniel Belles, the woman was fired from her job at the LCS Facility Group and on the way out the door she allegedly stole items from the landscaping company. Those items were returned to the Fuller Road business and she was not charged with the theft.
But, while investigating the theft, video surveillance allegedly captured her on April 2 dumping toilet bowl cleaner into the company fish tank and unplugging the water filter.
All eight fish died overnight. The type of fish is not known, but Belles said he believed they were of a household variety.
The woman, who The Spotlight is not naming since the crime does not elevate to a felony, stands charged with the misdemeanor of torturing/injuring an animal and was given an appearance ticket.
