Creo Caters, which formed in July, has announced it will be the food service provider for the Colonie Golf and Country Club starting Nov. 1. Brian White, vice president of White Management, which manages Creo Caters, said the company was contacted in August by the country club. “We will come in and basically perform all their food service operations,” White said. “It’s an extension of the Creo restaurant, and we will be taking care of all food and beverage service.” This means Creo will be providing food for all golf outings and membership dinners, working behind the bar and working in the grill room. White said Creo will be bringing along its menu and the same type of customer service it provides at its restaurant. White said the company will be working with the current staff at the country club and help with transitioning them into becoming employees of Creo Caters. Workers will go through training and learn to adjust to Creo’s style of service. “We definitely intend to work with the staff there,” White said. “There are very well regarded servers and kitchen staff on site, and our intention is to work with those people. The membership there really likes them, and we intend to serve the membership to the best of our ability.” The game plan for Creo is to grow its revenue, so as that happens, White said they will look to hire more people to work at the Country Club as time goes on. This partnership opens up new avenues of business for the catering service as it will be the first time they will be catering events such as weddings and other private parties. White said they hired two people to help handle those areas. Jan Weitzman will be the catering and private party liaison as well as the sales manager and event planner. White said they also hired Mike Urowsky as the executive chef and general manager of food and beverage operations. “Jan spent time in the food and beverage industry and ran a framing business,” White said. “She brings with her a tremendous number of contacts. She’s the kind of person who is extremely detailed and has great taste.” White said this is a great opportunity for a catering service that just announced its operation back in July. Jeff Sperber, a partner of the Colonie Golf and Country Club, said it looks forward to the new partnership and believes it will have a positive effect on membership enrollment. “We are extremely excited to have this partnership with White Management and our members are equally thrilled to have Creo at their club,” he said in a release. “To quite literally bring one of the area’s best restaurants into the club is a great thing. We are looking forward to Chef Brian Bowden’s creations and we feel that the addition of Creo Caters will help us increase membership.” The excitement is not lost on the White Management end as White said he believes it will be a good chance to show the members of the club the high quality of food it will have available for them. “It’s a tremendous opportunity for us,” White said. “It makes us really happy to be regarded so well and be brought to the table early on. We’re hoping to establish a reputation at Creo where we do a great job, provide a great menu and have a really excellent team… We’re super excited to be a part of what’s going on at the club.”
