Human remains found in Greenfield earlier this week were identified as those of missing Colorado woman Jennifer Hammond at a press conference at the Saratoga District Attorney’s office on Oct. 28.
Saratoga County District Attorney James Murphy announced during the press conference that the remains were found in a wooded area near the Creek and Pines Trailer Park in Milton. The remains were found by a hunter, who reported his findings to the state police on Monday.Investigators matched the teeth to those of Hammond, 18 in 2003, because of cavities and fillings that made the teeth unique.
Hammond, originally from Littleton, Colo., was in Albany with Atlantic Circulation, a magazine subscription selling company, in August of 2003. She went missing when she failed to meet at the designated pick-up location. She was later reported as a missing person in November of the same year. She was in the Albany area for approximately 30 to 60 days.
The investigation is a joint venture between the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department and the New York State Police. The departments are treating the case as a homicide, but there are no suspects at this time, according to Murphy.`
