Jones was also arraigned on the following charges following his arrest last night for fleeing from Troopers after a traffic infraction: (1) count of Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, (1) count of False Personation, (1) count of Unlawful Use of Vehicle, (1) count of Unlawfully Felling a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, (1) count of Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, (1) count of Driving the Wrong Direction on a One Way Street, (1) Count of Reckless Driving, (1) count of Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Devise, (1) count of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle and (1) count of Forgery in the Second Degree.
Jones pled not guilty and was remanded into the custody of the Albany County Sheriff.
The indictment unsealed this morning alleges that on February 9, at approximately 3:50 A.M. at Shenanigan’s Gentleman’s Club located at 2169 Central Avenue in the Town of Colonie, Jones slashed a DJ during an altercation. It is alleged that Jones attempted to cause the victim serious physical injury by slashing his face from the eyebrow to underneath his chin.
Colonie Police released video from the Club to help identify the attacker which led to Jones being indicted on April 7, 2010. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
According to an arrest report filed this morning by the New York State Police, around midnight last night a Trooper witnessed a White Jeep Liberty fail to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Hamilton and Swan Streets in the City of Albany. When the Trooper pulled the vehicle over, the driver stopped, looked at the Trooper as he was exiting the police cruiser, and then fled. After a brief vehicle pursuit Jones exited his vehicle and fled on foot on Delaware Avenue. Once apprehended by additional Troopers, Jones gave the officers an incorrect name. Troopers eventually identified the suspect as Jones through fingerprint records and he was taken into custody pursuant to the outstanding warrant for the incident at Shenanigan’s.
Jones faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted of all the charges.
Bruce Lennard, Chief of the Major Offense Bureau is handling the prosecution of this case.
